Proposed multi-family housing development in Calgary
We are partnering with The City of Calgary to bring about 376 new homes to life as part of the Franklin Station Area Improvements project.
Located along Calgary’s LRT network, Franklin Station will soon be home to a vibrant, mixed-income development centered on transit-oriented design. That means homes built near reliable public transit, making it easier for residents to live affordably and access the opportunities that help them thrive.
With a variety of unit types, including three-bedroom homes and universally accessible suites, this development is about much more than buildings — it’s about belonging.
Affordable housing is an investment in people and communities. It provides homes for diverse residents, supports stability and social well-being, and helps create vibrant, inclusive neighbourhoods where everyone has an opportunity to succeed.
The project is supported by grant funding from the Government of Alberta’s Affordable Housing Partnership Program and The City of Calgary’s TOD Implementation Strategy, which directs investment to enhance public spaces and infrastructure in established communities. These initiatives are a powerful example of what’s possible when government and community partners come together with a shared purpose.
The City is retaining existing parking lot across Memorial Drive, north of the LRT station. This parking lot has about 280 spots.
About the Application
Onward submitted a Development Permit (DP) application to The City of Calgary for review in June 2026. The DP provides details including the site layout, building design, density and setback. A DP approval is required before a Building Permit can be granted.
Onward is seeking community feedback during the application process. Feedback will be shared with The City and considered by the project team to help inform the development. You can submit feedback to Onward via email (franklinproject@onwardhomes.ca) or to The City through the Development Map.
About Transit Oriented Development
The City of Calgary is exploring future development opportunities at several transit stations along the Red Line, including Fish Creek, Anderson and Dalhousie, with affordable housing among the potential uses. Westbrook Station has also been identified as a future redevelopment site and is in the early stages of planning.
