Whistleblower Policy

Onward is committed to accountable, ethical, and sound governance practices and supports this belief through action and policy, as well as by encouraging a culture of integrity and honesty.

Onward requires employees, board members, contractors and volunteers to observe high standards of business and personal ethics, as well as compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in the conduct of their duties and responsibilities.

Onward has established and implemented a Whistleblower Policy to enable employees, contractors, and members of the public, including volunteers and other stakeholders, to confidentially report information on illegal practises or violations of organizational policies to the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of Onward.

Retaliation against anyone who reports violations or suspected violations will not be tolerated. Onward commits that no adverse action will be taken against anyone for reporting concerns regarding violations or suspected violations made in good faith, and that all reports will be kept strictly confidential.

Onward commits that all reports will be promptly investigated to the fullest extent possible.

Whistleblower Procedure

Anyone may submit a complaint regarding conduct by Onward Homes or its agents, reasonably believed to involve questionable conduct of a serious nature, to the Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee (Treasurer) by email at: whistleblower@onwardhomes.ca

The Finance and Audit Committee will promptly assess all complaints to determine an appropriate investigation. All complaints will be treated confidentially, to the extent possible, consistent with the need to conduct an adequate investigation.​
